Factory of Choice
Some high-performing factories that commit trained staff to successfully implement the RBA Code struggle to translate their commitments into new business opportunities. The RBA’s Factory of Choice Awards Program provides these factories with an external designation that helps raise awareness of their ability to meet RBA member expectations for responsible business practices.
Factory of Choice Award Program
RBA members have high expectations of their supply chains partners, and the RBA understands that factories are at different places on the maturity curve. Some factories are not only able to meet but exceed these expectations – and they want to be recognized. To support the ambition of these factories to go beyond an audit, we have created the Factory of Choice Award Program. The FoC designation is intended to recognize those factories striving for excellence in corporate social responsibility. It is awarded to factories that fully commit to the RBA Code of Conduct and demonstrate leadership through impact and transparency. To enter the FoC program, factories must complete an evidence-based application that is reviewed by RBA staff to ensure the program criteria are met.
To be recognized as a Factory of Choice, the following requirements must be met:
- A VAP with a minimum score of 160 and all Priority findings must be closed
- At least one RBA-Certified Factory Lead
- A functioning worker forum to provide feedback to management that results in workplace changes
Participation in the program provides factories the opportunity to:
- Reduce audit fatigue
- Reduce costs of SER investments
- Demonstrate progressive commitment to sustainability
- Gain recognition for sustainability efforts
- Be recognized for aligning operations with the RBA Code
Becoming a Factory of Choice provides outside recognition to customers and other stakeholders for a high level of commitment to the RBA Code of Conduct and corporate social responsibility. It reduces audit fatigue by providing an audit that covers all lines of business and can be shared with any customers. Award recipients receive a plaque, a digital copy of the award, and a corresponding FoC logo to use in CSR reports and other printed material.
